I created the "Sun Portal in the Desert of Thar" after visiting the Thar desert in Rajasthan, India. The Thar Desert is one of the world's oldest deserts. I remember feeling a surge of warmth in my heart as a result of the vibrant nature of Rajasthan's land. It's as if a long-dormant memory within my cells had been reawakened. I felt reconnected to my current physical body's genetic roots. My stay at the 1000-year-old Haveli of Jaisalmer Fort was incredibly restful. I felt completely at ease inside, isolated from the outside world. Being with my energy and my loved one surrounded by the warmth of sun-filled yellow sandstone walls. Our stay in the old haveli reminded me of my grandparents' house and the mystery and warmth I used to feel when staying in old houses in Iran, particularly in Kashan's desert. I have always been fascinated by historic sites and antique dwellings, particularly adobe structures. I was born and raised in Shiraz, where I lived until I was 18 years old. I have visited Persepolis multiple times, the "ceremonial" capital city of ancient Persia. I had fantastic experiences there as a child, almost like something out of a fairy tale. I had always liked it, but I didn't know why at the time. I have long celebrated Iran's old civilization, Cyrus the Great, and Persian goddesses such as Mitra and Ahura Mazda, whom I recently learned to be the principal ancient Sun doorway between earth and heaven. As a young adult, I fantasized about time-traveling to Persepolis as a Persian princess rather than living in modern-day Iran, which has been ravaged by religious fanatics.
